Low and High Voltage Nominated Person (IVWV LS/HS)

In the Low and High Voltage Nominated Person (IVWV LS/HS) course from RelyOn Quercus, you will learn to take responsibility for the correct safety measures and procedures in the operation of electrical installations. The course is based on the most recent versions of the NEN-EN 50110-1, NEN 3140 and NEN 3840 standards. These standards relate to the responsible management of electrical installations and equipment and the safe performance of electrical work.

 

 

Course content

The combined NEN 3140/3840 installation manager and nominated person course covers the following subjects:

  • Relationship between NEN 3140 and NEN 3840 and the Working Conditions Act, Working Conditions Decree and European standards such as EN 50110
  • NEN 3140 operation of low-voltage installations
  • Risks of electricity
  • Electricity supply, construction of electrical installations and power systems
  • Management of electrical installations and work equipment, such as personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Authority and responsibilities
  • Liability
  • Outsourcing electrical engineering work
  • Implementation of NEN 3140 and NEN 3840 in the organisation
  • Determining the frequency of instruction and inspection
  • Inspection plan, random checks, inspecting and reporting
  • Writing switching plans
  • The safe commissioning and decommissioning of low- and high-voltage installations
  • Consequences of overloads and short-circuits in electrical installations
  • How to act in the event of deviations from normal operations with electrical installations
  • Practising switching operations based on switching plans
  • Assessing and creating a safe workplace
Target group

The NEN 3140/NEN 3840 nominated person LS/HS course is intended for employees who are responsible for the management and safety of work on or in the vicinity of high and low voltage installations. This could be a responsible expert, operations manager or head of a technical department.

Pre-requisite

To be able to follow the course, you must have completed vocational education in electrical engineering at EQF level 4. EQF stands for European Qualification Framework. This level corresponds to a secondary vocational education in electrical engineering (MBO/MTS-E, TBI or TSI), but you can also qualify with sufficient knowledge and practical experience. 

Course duration

The IV/WV high and low voltage course lasts 8 days, of which 5 days are theory and 3 days are practice. The exam takes place on a separate day. If you choose the course variant with consecutive dates, keep in mind that this requires a lot of effort from the student.
