In the NEN 3140/NEN 3840 Skilled Person Low and High Voltage (LV/HV) course from RelyOn Quercus, you will learn how to prevent electrical hazards. A Skilled Person regularly performs electrical and non-electrical work on or near high- and low-voltage installations under the supervision of a Work Supervisor.

This English LS/HS course covers the following topics:

  • Relationship between NEN 3140 and NEN 3840 and the Working Conditions Act, Working Conditions Decree and European standards such as EN 50110
  • Operating low-voltage installations NEN 3140
  • Operating high-voltage installations NEN 3840
  • Knowledge of the risks involved in working on or near low- or high-voltage electrical installations
  • The five essential safety requirements for the commissioning and decommissioning of electrical installations
  • Knowledge of the structure and function of the electrical installation
  • Ability to assess and create a safe work area
  • Ability to apply the correct procedures for electrical work
  • Theoretical background of electrical power engineering
  • Use of tools, equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Consequences of overloads and short circuits in electrical installations
  • How to act in the event of deviations from normal operations with electrical installations
  • Securing electrical installations based on circuit diagrams
  • Commissioning installations based on circuit diagrams
Target group 

The NEN 3140 and NEN 3840 professional competence course is intended for employees who, as part of their job, perform electrical work on or near high- and low-voltage installations.

Pre-requisite

To follow the LS/HS course, you must have completed level 2 of the Vocational Education Act (Wet Educatie Beroepsonderwijs) in electrical engineering. This level corresponds to a lower level of electrical engineering education (lbo/lts-e), but can also be achieved with sufficient knowledge and experience from practice.

Course duration

The course lasts six days and consists of both theory and practice. The exams take place on a separate day.

You can complete the course with a theory and practical exam. You have two options to complete the NEN 3140/3840 professional competence course:
